A diesel spill from a supermarket petrol station has contaminated the River Irwell with anglers claiming dead fish have been spotted for miles. The Tesco petrol pump in Haslingden was leaking underground on Thursday morning but Tesco say the problem is now solved and there is no danger to the public. But local anglers have shared pictures of the river on Facebook, after dead fish have been found in Rawtenstall, Rossendale, Ramsbottom and Radcliffe.
