A faith that always looks for more instruction from the Lord : The angel reassures Mary with the words “fear not”. And the reason for this was because the Lord was going to treat her as a special object of His favour. That’s why she need not fear. And then the angel goes on to explain to her that she has been chosen by God to bring forth a Son who is the Messiah (Jesus). In the Hebrew His name means “the Lord is salvation”. He will be the Saviour of all mankind (Matthew 1: 21). We must take note that she does not react like Zechariah (18 – 20), she does not doubt; all she does is ask? Vs 34.“How will this be, Mary asked the angel, since I am a virgin”. Mary’s question can be likened to that of the Apostle Paul’s question in Acts 22:10. “What shall I do Lord?” In order for our faith in the Lord to mature, in order for us to do exactly what it is that the Lord calls us to do, in order to be what He calls us to be we too need to ask the question Mary asks. The question looks for further instruction, and this indicates that our faith in the Lord is not blind or naive but rather based on the Word of God. Word Wealth: Instruction Correction, discipline, rebuke or warning. All forms of discipline intended to lead to a transformed life. From: A Faith that Accomplishes God’s Plan
