A few observations Ive made over the past few weeks: 1. Many of you think this page is an app. Its Facebook. You have a Facebook app on your phone that allows you to view it just as you can view it on a regular computer at your desk or with your mobile web browser. 2. I run two websites and neither of those are apps. I do have one app, its called ATsWeatherToGo. 3. The name of this page is Aaron Tuttle public figure, not your personal servant. I do occasionally post things here that I want to post. You telling me not to post what you dont want to see has no bearing on what goes on here. I will say that its 95% weather. 5% whatever I feel like, as I am a person, not a robot. But dont worry its usually uplifting and motivational content. 4. Lets make a deal, Ill stop saying the word I if you stop saying the word they. As in, the weatherman, they always get it wrong. I am no they. If I bring attention to my forecast, its because there is a difference. If you wouldnt lump us all into one bad forgotten joke, there would be no need to ever use the word I. That said, I dont claim to get all of them right, and if you do this long enough youll definitely miss a few. I hate getting them wrong but love the challenge and Im far harder on myself than you could ever be. Which is funny really, considering meteorology is an inexact science and Im basically a fortune teller. The fact meteorologists can get the weather right at all is pretty amazing considering how complex it is. 5. When you watch the local newscast at 10pm you watch it for the news of the day, yet there are commercial breaks from the content you get to view for free. Yet when I occasionally plug my other business here between free weather posts (which also helps people by the way), many of you get riled up. Just think of it as watching TV. Its a commercial. Ill be back shortly to continue your free service. 6. Speaking of TV. When you see the news promos saying we were the first to bring you XYZ, or our weather team was the only one to forecast this storm, do you go, boy you guys sure are cocky. No, you go oh really, I didnt know that, I guess you guys are good at what you do. Its called branding and marketing. It happens all around you. Its how you differentiate yourself from the competition. So if I occasionally say I got a tough forecast right when others didnt, or my weather app predicted a tornado 20 minutes before it leveled a town giving many a chance to prepare, its called marketing, not being cocky. I want you to notice that theres a difference. If I had a person sending out media press releases on my behalf you wouldnt think twice about it. But as a sole entity, its a tough spot to be in. Maybe Ill just start writing in the 3rd person on here. ;) 7. If you feel like you need to go on a diatribe and spout off hateful rhetoric, save it. No one wants to hear or read it including me. When posts blow up to hundreds of comments, guess what, I wont read them anyway. I have far more productive things to do. Besides, even if I read one, odds are you wont get a response and therefore you will have wasted your time. Having a full time job, running 2 side businesses, and still trying to have a life while providing an unpaid and sometimes unappreciated service here prevents me from engaging nonsense/trouble makers anyway. Now for the nice posts and legitimate questions, I always try to make some time to respond to as many as I can. Been doing it that way since I started this page and I would like to think thats one of the good things that sets me apart from the others and why youre here in the first place. So thats it. Just a few things that amused me from the collective comments. I understand that there will always be those who are unhappy in life, just like I know the vast majority on here are appreciative of what I do. And in turn Im appreciative of you placing your trust in my forecasts. I live by the its better to give than to receive Gospel and I know that if the haters spent one day in my shoes they would see things differently, but isnt that how it usually goes? So I will continue to help those who are willing to listen. Carry on and glad youre here! -AT
