A few weeks ago one of our pastors (who happens to be an awesome rapper) came to speak to our teen moms. He spoke about being the boss. Who is the boss of your life? He gave the illustration of Jesus sitting in a chair--the throne of our lives--and us pushing him out of the way, claiming the seat with the daily decisions we make. I serve God and love him, but the way he spoke made me realize how many decisions I make without prayer--adding on commitments because they seem like the right thing to do. Since then Ive been really praying, and Ive felt God asking me to step back from a number of things. Theyre all really good things, and each doesnt take up much time, but each of them represented ways Ive chosen to be the boss instead of letting him lead me. I just thought Id share. And I realized that maybe one of the reasons God has me mentoring teen moms is because of the messages that I need to hear!
