A friend, inspiration and hero, in my book, had a video posted on her page about sugar. She had mentioned organic yogurt in her video, and like most people, I had NO idea! I was buying La Yogurt for my kiddos because they could use all the extra digestion assistance they could get, with celiac and other problems. After reading the label on this stuff at the grocery store I realized there were 41grams of sugar in 1 cup! That equals out to be 8 teaspoons of sugar in 1 cup of yogurt! I was shopping at the grocery store, looking for more options. There was a mom with a young child in her cart that came up, grabbed a package of yogurt that had the trix rabbit on it, and started to walk away. Instantly, my son started freaking out because he wanted that kind! I said, no way, its LOADED with sugar!. The woman turned around and said, what the heck are you talking about? I pulled my iphone out, showed her my friends video on fb, and she was angry. I learned that she had JUST put her child on medication for adhd, and had no idea that she was loading him up with extra sugar! She said she figured with the cartoon character on it, it would be kid friendly and healthy. I asked for permission to share this story, and I am glad I was able to help, but they dont put cartoon characters on packages for that reason. They put them on to attract kids, to nag us to buy them. That stuff is usually so FULL of sugar and junk! I will be looking into making my own yogurt. Im curious though. What healthy snacks have you discovered had a lot of sugar added to them?
