A friend of mine once said they were voting No because Gordon - TopicsExpress

A friend of mine once said they were voting No because Gordon Brown had given their family tax credits.... Really. Labour had to give up its socialist values and become New Labour in order to gain power under Blair, who failed to reverse rail privatisation and marched us to into an illegal war. Thatcher had began the fire-sale of UK assets. The privatisation of the energy industry was supposed to create competition and drive down prices, likewise with the rail industry. We can now see how successful that was, with a diminished rail network and some of the highest travel and utility prices in the world. Scotland can vote Labour ad infinitum and still get Tory government. If the whole of Scotland voted Labour and just 10% of England voted for UKIP, Scotland gets UKIP. Thats why Blair moved to the right, to appease the English middle classes and gain power. The Tories and New Labour oversaw the demise of industry in the UK and the gap between rich and poor grow ever wider. Brown also deregulated the banks and for some baffling reason sold off the majority of the UKs gold reserves at a knock-down price. “The sale of the majority of Britain’s gold reserves for prices between $256 and $296 an ounce, only to watch it soar so far as $1,615 per ounce today” (The Telegraph 2012). We all know the result of banking deregulation. The Tories have seen this as an opportunity to further dismantle the UKs public sector under the cloak of austerity. Privatising the English NHS, selling off the Royal Mail and dismantling the welfare state. The poor have borne the ravages of the cuts, while bankers bonuses continue to be obscene. What have Labour done? Nothing to prevent them and vowed to continue these cuts while pretending to still be the party of the people. Iceland (Population: 320,137) After the banking crisis, had a revolution! Never heard about that one? Google “kitchenware revolution”. Basically the people protested peacefully and this led to the creation of a new constitution and government. Bankers were jailed! Dont you wonder why you never saw this on the BBC? The crisis did not hit the other Nordic countries as hard. Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland shook off the crisis quite well. These countries all have about the same populations as Scotland and only one, Norway, has anywhere near Scotland’s assets. The next time someone in power tells you were too wee or too poor, know you are being lied too. How is a country with no industry meant to build a recovery? Normally you produce goods in factories where workers have a decent wage. Those goods are then exported, bringing in foreign revenue. The workers also have cash to spend, stimulating the economy. What we have is a retail economy. Shops employ people to sell goods that are mainly imported and wages are generally lower. This is good at stimulating Chinas economy and supports the need for tax credits. The Tories are trying to gamble their way out of debt by reinflating the housing bubble and Labour havent got a better idea. The Tories are also shifting further to the right to counter the threat from UKIP, just like Labour did in the 90s to get the Tory vote. Westminster is becoming more right-wing, all they are concerned about is the glory of London. Soon even the tax credits will be gone. Do you still want to vote No?
