A friend shared this on my personal fb page, so I thought Id share it with you! So... a friend of mine told me yesterday that I look better now than I did when I was thinner. In fact several people have told me that. She, and two others at least have said you look(ed) too thin and one even used the word gaunt! Let me clear something up here, right now... especially for those of you who are trying to lose weight and get in shape yourselves. I did not lose the weight to look better. I lost the weight to FEEL better. In fact, in the past 14 months or so, I had gained 35lbs over my low of 190-ish, and I felt like crap. I am now at 217.. and already feel *MUCH* better. But when I was 190-ish I felt fantastic. I had the same energy level I had in my 20s... THAT ALONE IS WORTH IT. I dont care if I will look too thin again, because I will feel fantastic again. So if you are a bit overweight too, and you are thinking of losing the weight... DO IT. Do it so you will know what it feels like to be carrying around muscle and bone and not excess fat as well. Us middle aged folks often talk about how much energy we had when we were in our 20s. Ill let you in on a secret... that lack of energy has more to do with weight and fitness, and not age. Dont believe me? OK, lets try an experiment. Get a backpack, put 30lbs in it and walk around for the day. You dont even really have to do this to know what its going to feel like... its going to suck. Youll look for reasons to sit down more often... take the elevator, drive, etc. Reasons to not move under your own power... which will make you feel sluggish. But shed that backpack and youll be yourself again... instantly. Well, thats all I am trying to do... get myself back to the point where I am not lugging around excess baggage. If you see me and think I am too thin.... please dont bother to tell me, because I am not going back to being fat because it fills my face out. Im doing this for me.
