A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. – Proverbs 22:1 (NIV) A good name is built over time. It is the outcome of right decisions that have captured the attention of those around you. Why does the author compare it to riches? Like riches, a good name is greatly desired, but also like riches, there is always the reality of loss. It takes years to build up a good name, but all it takes is one bad decision to tarnish all of that effort. So we must be diligent in watching over not only building a good name, but maintaining it.
