A good read, & I can certainly relate... but I suspect there might be more to the correlation than husbands dashing their wives egalitarian expectations within the marriage. The reason my career took a backseat this year while Mikey continued working was simple: our salaries are not equal. Our kids needed more support and time from us - it would have cost significantly more per hour for Mikey to become primary caregiver instead of me. Heartbreaking and royally unfair - but true. If we want women to have equal career-priority in a marriage, theyll have to be making as much as or more than their husbands. Ever try feeding/housing/clothing these little beasts?! What family ever would/could choose to scrap the higher income at the most expensive time of their lives?
