A great cop has gone into retirement just when the Police Force is starving for expertise of this nature. My interaction with George (we were on first name acquaintance) was when he served the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association as the PRO under the late Laurie Lewis. I remember lambasting him for what I perceived to be lapses in the administration of the sport. He took it in stride and did what he had to do---The GABA was much the better for his input. George would chuckle when he remembers an incident when I was in Canada where a team of boxers had gone for (I Think) the Commonwealth Games. Its an incident I will not document but I must mention that I had (purposely) taken umbrage that Gary StClair was singled out from the team and whisked to GT. I knew why but George felt I was in the dark until we compared notes. I am not at liberty to fully disclose details but I saw a compassionate side of George. We laughed it off and moved on. George now walks off into the sunset leaving a trail of successes for his younger proteges to emulate. If they do, the GPF will be a great entity. Good luck George; I know that what ever you undertake to do will be well done but it is imperative that I wish you all the best and on behalf of every law abiding citizen may I express profound gratitude to you for your commitment to Guyanas development.
