A hint for beginners for making kuchen.Someone asked me at the meet and greet how I got my kuchen bottom crust done. Theirs was always soggy. My aunt told me to use glass pie plates. You can see thru them on the bottom to see if the crust is nice and brown and not soggy. Also to keep the bottom crust done without getting the top crust burnt, I always bake them on the bottom rack of the oven. I hope this helps some of you. As you get to make them more youll be able to tell and can switch to different pans, but I always just use my glass ones. I went to the thrift shops and got 12 of them very inexpensively.
