A key piece of information that EDDC refuses to release, yet is relying on to justify its office move, will be discussed at a tribunal next month. Sidmouth resident, Jeremy Woodward requested under the Freedom of Information Act, a copy of the Knowle buildings survey but the request was rejected. Mr Woodward then referred the request to the Information Commissioner, who ordered the council to release the report, but EDDC has appealed the ruling. Mr Woodward told the Pulman’s View From Series this week: “The Information Commissioner wants EDDC to make public the report on the state of the Knowle buildings - because they say it was produced by external, independent consultants. But EDDC has insisted it was an internal matter to help with them with their own deliberations and so should not be published. “However, back in February, when the district council’s own scrutiny committee voted for a completely new report to be commissioned without interference from political leadership, councillors and officers said the report which declared Knowle unfit was independent and professional.” Here’s what happened at January’s overview and scrutiny committee meeting - claire-wright.org/index.php/post/independent_survey_set_to_be_undertaken_of_knowle_buildings And then what happened at the February full council meeting…. claire-wright.org/index.php/post/council_nods_through_decision_to_spend_1m_on_skypark_land The tribunal will take place on Thursday 28 August and will be held at Court 3, Exeter Magistrates Court, Heavitree Road, Exeter. The hearing has been listed for half a day and will begin at 10am.
