A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal ~ Steve Maraboli The truth is we all walk around with wounds on this earth...we are imperfect beings living in a broken world...a world with jagged glass lying on our paths. We may be confident we are good at navigating through the hazardous waste left by others pain, only to step on that hidden sharpness which cuts into our core being - leaving a wound that no physician can heal. These are the wounds we inadvertently deliver to one another...unintentional and seemingly without meaning...most certainly spoken and acted without compassion. Where has compassion gone? It seems it has evaporated at the same rate technology has boomed...Do we recognize compassion when she is offered? Or are we too involved in the cynical bantering of an on-line war? Or maybe absorbed in a self-inflicted situation of isolation? Grace, mercy, kindness..passion. It may take you an extra 8 seconds to process a loving word and another 5 seconds to say it out loud, yet those belabored 13 seconds may have a healing impact which is timeless... You may not think you are the deliverer of healing words...none of us in our humanity actually are - its the spirit of grace living within each of us...the love within each of us was the ultimate gift given through our birth...that love, mercy, kindness, tenderness is ours to share...or sadly, ours to keep. We make the decision to heal or harm so quickly, so mindlessly...lets take care with these spirit-threatening choices...and when we see weve been careless or another brother or sister has been thoughtless, express and extend compassion...through a smile, an encouraging word, an embrace...You will both walk away with love... Believe. Create. Live.
