A little Billy Idol to kick off the morning… “Dancing With Myself” was written by Billy Idol and bassist Tony James. The song was first recorded by their band Generation X and released on what turned out to be their last album, Kiss Me Deadly, in 1981. That same year, Generation X broke up and Billy Idol began his solo career. After his departure from Generation X, Billy re-mixed the song and re-released it as a solo single as well as on his self-titled debut solo album. Upon its initial release by Generation X, the song had limited success, but as a single for Billy’s solo career, the song peaked at #27 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and #2 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 singles.
