A little bit of history. In the early eighties former US senators - TopicsExpress

A little bit of history. In the early eighties former US senators David Ferdinand Durenberger and Edward M. Kennedy, among others became Health Care Experts by fully understanding the following fact: That the US health care system was spending huge amounts of money in unnecessary hospital admissions and that the amount of money was so large that actually boggled the mind. They also understood that it was easy to curb that, by paying the doctors well without they having to make money from hospital admissions. The experts became happy and enthusiastic, of course, they could not hide their excitement, imagine that, recovering a mountain of gold and doing it so simply. Just a few sharing this secret. Things are different now. I will give you my version of all this later. You may wonder, why save from reduced hospital admisions and then turn around and give the money to the doctors? The reason is that the hospital costs were about $360 a day and the doctors costs were about $15 a day. So pay $15 and save $360 = $345 net savings a day
