A love letter to DR (you know who you are): My dearest DR, I don’t know if I can find the words to express how much I love you, how much I adore you, and how much, despite all the objections, I refuse to let you go. It seems now like a miracle that wonderful day we met, quite by accident, at the grocery store. You winked at me in your colorful way, and I was, I am, I always will be, smitten. I don’t care that you drain my bank account. All that matters is the smooth, creamy brown vision of you. The way you smell, the way you taste – it is intoxicating (especially when I sprinkle a little chicken on you). You drive me insane with your dirty, dirty ways. When I am with you, I am in a mad paradise. I know people say you are no good for me, and that you will hurt me in many ways and break my heart, but I don’t care. I can’t live without you in my life; I will never, ever give you up, no matter what the costs, no matter what the consequences. And so, my Dirty Rice (by Zatarain’s of New Orleans), let us break out the sausages and the peppers (and the water) and toast our lives together, for however long we may last.
