A major highlight of 2014 was right on the heels of a devastating moment. In August, I was traveling down some rivers in Russia with my dad. I had already inquired about seeing eagles, but was informed they don’t often see any on these trips. One morning, about six days into the trip I learned Joey The Garden Cat had died. I gathered myself the best I could to have lunch with dad. I made this statement to him, “do you think God will let me see an eagle today to help me with my grief?” Dad politely smiled and we went about the rest of the afternoon enjoying a rare sunny day on the peaceful lazy river. Mid afternoon I was on the front of the boat taking photos of a church and out of the corner of my eye spotted a immature Golden Eagle. Needless to day, I was beaming with joy. Later that night at dinner, still on cloud nine, I shared with my table mates the encounter God granted me. And once again, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a massive bird at the back of the boat. I bolted with camera in hand. I returned to smiling ear to ear and shaking that God granted me another sighting - this time a full grown Golden Eagle and at sunset. God’s tenderness during heartache was very personal gifts - lifting a very heavy heart. That is how Hes been all my life. So glad I could share it with my pops.
