A man has been charged with robbery and assault after an altercation over the sale of an alleged faulty fridge in Sydney’s south yesterday. On Thursday 30 October 2014, a 52-year-old man sold a bar fridge to a 32-year-old. About midday yesterday (Wednesday 5 November 2014) the 32-year-old man called the 52-year-old to advise him that the fridge was going to be returned because it did not work. He arrived at the West Botany Street home in Arncliffe with a friend a short time later and confronted the 52-year-old resident and his friend, a 46-year-old man in the backyard. The 52-year-old was concerned about the manner of the 32-year-old and recorded the interaction. An argument occurred and the 32-year-old man allegedly pushed the 46-year-old man in the chest, causing him to fall backwards and cut the rear of his head on a brick wall. The 32-year-old allegedly demanded his money be returned for the faulty fridge and threatened the pair. He allegedly kicked the 52-year-old in the thigh twice. The 52-year-old has agreed to get the money and gave the 32-year-old $60 in cash. The pair threw the fridge onto the front lawn and left. The matter was reported to police by both parties who attended St George Police Station to report the matter. Police also viewed the video footage. The 32-year-old was arrested and charged with robbery, enter dwelling with intent to commit serious indictable offence (robbery), detain for advantage, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Kogarah Local Court on Tuesday 25 November 2014.
