A military family needing help. Who can adopt, foster, crosspost? Here is Rileys story from her military dad: To whom it may concern, I am reaching out because my wife and I are in need of assistance with our dog Riley. Riley is a pit bull mix, and is approximately 7 years old. Rileys original owners were our neighbors who badly neglected her. It got to the point that the police had to become involved. When that happened my wife offered to foster Riley, since the police told us that due to her breed she would likely be euthanized. We were unsuccessful in finding a home for Riley, so she became a part of our family and lived with us over the last six years. Riley is dog aggressive so we had some problems with her getting into fights with our other dogs, but we worked through them. Riley loved our cats. I am in the Army and 6 months ago I was assigned overseas to Japan. We were unable to bring Riley with us because pit bulls are not allowed in Japan or in military base housing. We reached out to friends and family, and a close friend of mine agreed to take her in. He lives outside of Fort Riley, so we had her transported to him. A few weeks ago my friend contacted me, and informed me that Riley had nipped his daughters ankle. I do not have much detail about the incident, but we never had any issues like that with her. However, as a result my friend has asked us to find new arrangements for Riley. Riley is a sweetheart and we love her very much, but she has not dealt with all the recent changes well. She deserves to be in a loving stable home, which unfortunately we cannot provide her with. We are out of options among friends and family and would like to know if you could assist us with finding a responsible home for Riley, or if not refer us to some other organizations that might be able to help.
