A neighbor and I had to go court this morning to answer to the accusation of simple assault( if I were to assault anyone there would be nothing simple to it) and it was fun really funny. The charges were dropped but how it happened is a story unto itself. Now the morning started out with this guy that had that made the accusations sitting in the courtroom grinning like a possum when we walked in.Well after we had sat through some DUI and drug cases waiting on our turn to plead not guilty and giggling a little bit because the Judge was wonderful and had a good sense of humor. As we were waiting my wife elbowed me in the ribs while holding back a laugh and pointing to the floor behind us. I looked around to see this guy laying on the floor in the middle of the Courtroom and I had to hold back the laugh so much tears were trying to get out! So about that time the bailiffs noticed him too and walked over to him and asked what do you think you are doing?This aint the Holiday Inn. and he told them that his back hurt so he had to lay down. About this time the Judge noticed what was going on and stopped the case he was working on and had the bailiffs bring up to the bench. At that point my neighbor and I were called up. We stopped a little further the bench and said nothing. The Judge looked at us then looked at him and asked him now tell me what it is that these two gentlemen have supposed have done. At this point the guy started telling an outrageous story. The Judge asked him some questions and caught him in several lies. So he looked over at my neighbor and I and said you two can go, no need to say anything because I find no reason to believe anything he said. Now we have go back in March and testify against him for the State Of Mississippi. This should be fun!! As a writer I can say you cant make this stuff up!
