Lessons I have learned from my gardening experience this year: 1. Weeds never go away. One day you think you have them all pulled and the next day they come right back! 2. Next year I will plant the cucumbers and squash off to themselves because those cute little plants you start with will take over the whole garden and smother everything else! 3.. Next year I will plant more rows of carrots and thin them more so that they dont have three legs when they come of the ground. 4. Next year I will plant pole beans instead of bush beans, they have to be easier on the back to pick. 5. Never underestimate the power of a good rain. 6. Its Ok to eat a tomato right off the vine. 7. Expect to find a few fat worms inside an ear of corn, they gotta eat too! 8. Purple hull peas are hard to pick at dusk. 9. Stink bugs love a garden. Dont squish one! 10. Its good to get dirt under your fingernails. God made dirt and dirt dont hurt! 11. Buying canning jars for the first time can get expensive. 12. Jelly is not jelly until it gels! 13. Use a permanent Sharpie when labeling your freezer bags. 14. It is impossible for one person to work a full time job, take care of a garden, preserve all the food form the garden, keep a clean house, and do laundry. Invest in extra underwear!
