A nice 9 mile run this morning. From mine, over to Velmead, behind the Foresters, over the road, into Pystock, and around the wild fields and Fleet Pond and back. First half of the run what an ignorant rude group of people!!! I say hello or good morning to everyone. If they control their dogs as Im running it is a thank you and a hello. Dog owners were responsible today and (nearly all) kept their dogs really nicely under control. But what a rude bunch! Dont know about the rest of you, but I was always taught to say hello or good morning back to someone. After around 20 people just blanked me I made a point with two ladies, posh looking, by a board at a duck feeding point. I even stopped and said good morning five times, each one louder. Nope. Nothing. Humanity and politeness had failed...and I was actually feeling pretty miserable about it. But...then...a hope for the future lol! A teenage girl on her iPhone. Morning! I said as I approached. Good morning! came back with a warm smile. I was shocked. I had to stop and thank her, and tell her that she was the FIRST to say hello back that morning. A teenager. Friendly and with manners. Warmth. Puts the others to shame. It then stumbled along a little, with the odd Muppet, but... A lady whos golden retreiver slipped the collar had a nice little chat. A retired couple walking their dog smiling and chatty. A friendly lady and her dog that appeared out of no-where were all smiles. A lady with a BEAUTIFUL young GSD was all smiles. A Facebook friend running with his young son stopped for a chat. Every one of them warmed me. When I was in Barbados a few weeks ago I learnt that it is a cultural thing to say friendly hellos to everyone. Barbados was so much friendlier than being back home. So Im blowing a raspberry to all the ignorant rude people who ignored me - and sending warm hugs to all those who lifted my day! I know the people Id rather meet
