A normal day But from far away Evil plots And destructive thoughts Selfish vices And controlling powers Getting ready for work Taking showers Breakfast swallowed Work on time Minding our own business Then at a quarter to 9 Death took flight Into the heart of our nation Not in our wildest imagination Could the horror unfold Lives disrupted, stolen, destroyed Heroes raised up Someones girl, someones boy Hearts reeling, Shock blocking our feeling The terror The tragedy That came from the Earths ceiling We held our breath day after day As the desperate searched As the helpless prayed As we reached for our loved ones ARE YOU OKAY? IVE BEEN TRYING TO REACH YOU ALL DAY!!! In our homes, our offices On highways and bridges our resilience grew The attitude shifted From fear and terror To resolve and power From shallow thoughts to serving our brothers The world in mourning With love, peace and power What was meant for evil brought us closer to each other. And in memory of the innocent, the brave, the strong, whos lives were stolen or given, today and all year long, reach out to your neighbor and stay united...that the sacrifices made will not be forgotten on the day the towers fell...a nation rose higher.
