A note on DNR requests (Do Not Resuscitate). When a person fills one out and lets their friends and family know there wishes, it is binding. It doesnt matter if, when the time comes, that the spouse or children dont agree. It doesnt matter that the patient cant confirm or deny...that is the whole point of having a Living Will and DNR...so everyone knows what you want when you cant speak for yourself. Bullying the doctors and/or nurses or threatening to sue will not change the outcome. Losing a loved one is emotional and always difficult, but when that time comes, you have to remember that it isnt about you. Its about respecting their wishes and letting them die with dignity.
