A prayer for couples: Scripture says there is a time for everything...a time to speak and a time not to speak...and this is never more true than in marriage sometimes all we need to do is be quiet and pray: Father I pray that you will help us to be good mates and to know that apart from You we dont have what it takes to be one. Take our selfishness, inpatients and irritability and turn them into kindness, long-suffering, and the willingness to bear all things. Take our old emotional habits, mindsets, automatic reactions, rude assumptions, and self-protective stance, and make us patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. Cause us to submit to Your plans and purpose for our marriage and not seek separate agendas. Take the bitterness out of our hear and break down the walls with Your batterings ram of revelations. Create in us a clean heart and a right spirit towards you and each other. Spare us from the way that seemeth right but only leads to divorce and destruction...keep us from faltering and stumbling by the wayside. Help us to be attentive to one anothers needs, wants and desires. Teach the husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church sacrificially and teach the wives how to honor, respect and admire their husbands as instructed in Your Word (Ephesians 5:23-33). Show us where there is sin in our heart, especially with regards to my husband. Help us to put aside any hurt, anger or disappointment that we feel and forgive them the way You do totally and completely with no looking back. Make us tools or reconciliation, peace, and healing in our marriages and not covenant breakers. Enable us to communicate well and rescue us from the threshold of separation where the realities of divorce begin. Teach us how to care for ourselves so that we can stay attractive to one another. Make us the kind of mate they can be proud to say is theirs. Teach us how to pray for each other and make our prayers a true language of love. Where love has died I ask that You create new love between us...Show us what unconditional love is really all about and how to communicate it in a way they can be clearly perceive. Bring unity in our homes so that we can be in agreement about everything. Make us a team...a force to be reckoned with...not pursuing separate, competitive or independent lives, but working together, overlooking each others faults and weakness for the greater good of our marriage. Help us to pursue things that make for peace and the things by which one may edify another (Romans 14:19). May we be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgement through our union with Christ (1Cor 1:10). I pray that our commitment to You and to one another will grow stronger and more passionate everyday. Show us how to support and respect each other in the roles You have given us as husband and wife. Help us to understand the dreams and vision you have given our mates so that we can see things from their prospective as well as ours. Reveal to us what they want and need and show us potential problems before they arise. Breather Your life into our marriages...Make us new creations, Lord. Give us a fresh perspective, a positive outlook, and a renewed relationship with the mate You we have chosen. Help us to see them with new eyes, new appreciation, new love, new compassion, and new acceptance. Bring the wayward husband or wayward wife back to their rightful place...eradicate all evil out of their life demolish stronghold and set them free from sin, sickness and disease...in Jesus name amen!
