A proposal has been submitted that a flat grant be added per student to assist charter schools with facilities cost. Currently, charter schools like Inspire don’t receive any funding to pay for our facilities. This means we are forced to use money directly from the classroom and teacher salaries to pay for our facilities. Our teachers get paid less than other teachers in Muncie, and they work longer hours as they create meaningful expeditions for our students. If this proposed bill gets passed, it will enable us to continue to pay for spacious classrooms for our students and to pay our teachers what they’re worth! Please help us keep high quality teachers at Inspire Academy and write your representatives today. The representatives for our district are Sue Errington and Tim Lanane. If you live in another district, contact your representatives as well. The Committee Chair is Luke Kenley. If you have more questions or would like ideas of what to write, please don’t hesitate to email or call me. I would be happy to talk with you in more detail and help you understand the dynamics in the Indiana Statehouse right now.
