A quick post for all those out there who may be interested in the sports situation at Pickens School. The Pickens Archery Team attended the 8th Annual WV Archery in the Schools Tournament today at the Civic Center in Charleston, WV. All schools in WV can compete in a Virtual Tournament to qualify for the State tournament. We had enough archers for a HS team (w/ 4 elem, 5 middle, & 4 HS archers). We placed 5th in the state out of 13 teams, so all 13 of our archers were able to shoot today. At the State tournament, the top 10 males and females from each division (elem., middle, & high) qualify for the National Archery Tournament held in Louisville, KY. We had 5 of our 13 members qualify for Nationals today. Chad Tiffner placed first in the State for elem. boys, Danielle Bond placed 2nd in the State for elem. girls, Haley Parsons placed 10th in the State for elem. girls, Ceirra Kelley placed 8th in the State for MS girls, and Clarrysa Kelley placed 8th in the State for HS girls. Jonn and I are so proud of all the archers and want to congratulate the winners again for a job well done. This is our 3rd year w/ the Archery Team and we have been able to attend Nationals each year...but we gain a couple more archers each year that qualify for Nationals and were so proud!! A big THANK YOU to all the parents that allow your children to participate and who help the team by supporting us! Also, thank you to Diane Betler for being a great supporter of our team and helping us when needed. Jonn & I couldnt do this all w/o you guys!!! Headed to Nationals in May.....and in the words of Danny Bond......were going to Worlds next!!!!!
