A rant from my sister/friend.....Real talk!! by Sheila Robinson Caba I wonder how many morally outraged, socially conscious folk had enough guts to forego the black Thursday/Friday sales?? Better yet....how many will use their kids/grand kids as scapegoats for hitting the stores??? You know.... they desperately wanted this or that so you HAD to get it! Its sad....our people from back in the day didnt have HALF of what we have today......yet, when it was time to unify & the call went out to hit corporate america in the pockets (we are a multi TRILLION dollar segment of the population today) they all stood together & did what was necessary & literally SHUT DOWN businesses. They WALKED or created carpools to get to & from where they had to go.....today we have become complacent & sorry......lazy & excuse makers. They wore out their shoes making a point.....we say we aint fittina walk no damn place.....its too cold... or too hot....They stayed out of the stores off of public transportation for weeks!.....we all up in them to get the latest gadgets for cheap, using our kids as the excuse, rather than instill in them the knowledge & power of themselves & their heritage.....we cant unify worth a damn, because we are too busy trying to look luscious or more luscious than our brethren for that pat on the back or someone to blow up your head to say how cool, def....dope or righteous....even cute you look. These corporations pay big $$ to insure that yall stay right the hell where you are.....& you give them the money to do so & keep them in office for them to finance the very ones who obliterate our kids/brothers. One day of solidarity, & it couldnt be done. Way back when.....Black Friday signified the selling of slaves for the plantation owners to have more help during the holiday season.....hey.....why change things right?
