A recent episode of CSI had a character, portrayed by Ted Danson, lament the fact that the victim had been killed by an AR 15, Americas favorite assault rifle. It can shoot 700 bullets every minute. Id like to say this about that: With a perfectly matched buffer weight, spring rate, bolt carrier group, ammo etc., a theoretical cyclic rate of fire closer to 750 - 800 could be achieved. But, even if the 700 number is closest to the truth, the operator of that AR would have to pull the trigger 11.6 TIMES PER SECOND to achieve that figure. Yes, you read that right...pull a 4 - 5 pound trigger almost 12 times per second! Every second. For 60 seconds. Lets get real, no one can do that. Besides that, within the first 15 seconds of attempting that feat, the gas tube actuating the bolt would be glowing red-hot and beginning to melt. By the end of the 60 seconds, the tube would cease to function, rendering that evil rifle incapable of autoloading the next bullet. No American soldier has gone into battle carrying an AR 15 assault rifle. Our soldiers are smarter than that, even the Marines (right, Michael Bauman?) They would be out-gunned by every adversary we have. The Liberal Hoplophobes attempt to demonize the AR 15, and then ban them entirely. Dont be fooled by their lying rhetoric.
