A recent study found that atheists tend to be more intelligent than their more religious companions. Why is this? Is it because they "know better" than to believe in a God? Does being more intelligent make them superior? But what else might matter? Intelligence is not everything, of course. There is success, money, happiness...An atheist may be more intelligent, but will he be happier as well? Perhaps he is free from an overbearing sense of an omnipotent being watching over him. Or perhaps he feels a sense of emptiness, that he has nothing to look forward to past his 80 to 90 years on Earth. And so I shall ask what is one of the most controversial questions of history: In terms of intelligence, success, and happiness, is religion worth it?
