A response to the Guy Fawkes post that I posted earlier in that - TopicsExpress

A response to the Guy Fawkes post that I posted earlier in that particular discussion I was accused of smearing and my colour was questioned ... herewith is a response that has some bearing and relevance to the post and the colonial mind ***** colour is not the issue for me and never will be .. I would be comfortable being any colour even green as long as I am human. Right now I write as an African because I am an African and am damn proud of it. Also I will stand up and challenge any people who impose their Eurocentricism on us and on Africa. We are tired of people who subsume our identities and try and impose their identities on us. In the colonial context the oppressor always takes away your identity and makes you ashamed of being who you truly are, some of us fall for that kind of rubbish and some of us dont. In the African context they it was deemed ok to take away our names and gave us theirs; you will find an African called David but never a white man called Sipho; the question is why? it is the colonial mentality and a sense of superiority that emanates from the colonial mind the same applies with celebrations. I have yet to see the English celebrate June 16 but there is an expectation that we celebrate Guy Fawkes; listen carefully oppressor only the mental slave or gibbering idiot will do that not a free thinker .. take your celebration and go home!!!! why dont you want to go home by the way?
