A result of rusting my brains after watching a lot of these trending epics of today : These movies do a great job of putting the effect and appeal of contemporary popcorn cinema in context. I had never considered the possibility that what American directors like Michael Bay ( plus those who copy him) and his indian made in china contempories like Rohit shetty,Sajid (khan+nadiadwala) and so many others here, are doing is crafting images that are delicious to our eyes and exciting to our attention span, but virtually substance-less in terms of character perspective, subtext, or symbolism. The result is a kind of cinematic-obesity that mirrors our actual lazy possesed obesity crisis - over consumption of nutrition-less food, over consumption of substance-less images, tragically creating poverty in our physical health and a poverty of our spirit from the images and stories we consume.
