A road trip travelled back in time thats what I experienced today . The first exciting thing was the old world charm of travelling in narrow zig zag roads with huge trees on both the sides with lush green paddy fields and plantain fields all along the journey . Reached my destination which was a small village called udangudi with no trace of modernity infected in any means . All house are clustered together with just a front door and a back door but having huge courtyards in between each home for good air circulation . Each house is connected with a narrow path way in between . The old world charm un touched and un disturbed as it was always with real antic rustic furniture made with teak wood and rose wood . We are invited for lunch , and taken to a huge room with a coir mat laid down on the floor with huge platters filled with ghee rice topped with a bowl of red hot mutton curry ( which has 1/2 the bowl filled with oil ) chicken gravy , thick dal with eggplants , tomato sweet and a onion chutney ( that is mashed raw small onions with green chillies , salted lime pickle and coarsely ground Maldives dried fish that alerted our palate every time it touched our tongue ) Each platter had to accommodate five people who had to share their food together from one platter . This is called the SAHAN SAPADU which was a practise during prophet Mohameds time to show the brotherhood as all are equal . A day to be remembered as there are a few places in this world that still exists as it is with its own culture untouched with out a change of the past .
