A sad story from someone I know: IF IT SAVES A LIFE: Yesterday I made a terrible mistake. I left my car door open and while I was distracted my Basset Hound, Sooner, got into the car. I turned around and closed the door after checking the front and back seat, but not the complete back where Sooner had hid in hopes of a drive. A few hours later I noticed the pit bull wanted in but no Sooner, they were pals, so I looked around the property and house, no Sooner. Then it hit me, the car.... it had been a few hours and she was barely conscious. Note it was below 70 but in the sun. I cooled her down and went in to call the vet. When I came out Sooner was dead. A dog I had since she was five weeks old died because I didnt check the entire car. This leaving a dog in a car when it is warm out, and absolutely when it is hot, is not bullshit that happens to other people. This loving dog who just wanted to be petted and play with the pit and bark at everything is gone because of being in a car on a warm day. Please, do not leave your dog in your car thinking it will only be a couple hours. I dont want you to go through what I am feeling right now and typing through tears.
