A schoolgirl who saw her older sister killed after getting off a school bus has told a Hobart court the driver of a utility was freaking out after the accident.Emma Edmonds had just got off the school bus with her older sister Ashley at Karanja in the Derwent Valley when the accident happened in February last year.Ashley, 13, died after being hit by a utility on Gordon River Road. The driver, Bradley John Chaplin, has pleaded not guilty to causing death by negligent driving. It is alleged he was travelling faster than the 40 kilometre per hour speed limit near a stationary school bus.Emma Edmonds has told the court that Chaplin was freaking out after the accident and said he did not see Ashley. She gave evidence that Chaplin told her not to touch her sister. The court heard it took an ambulance half an hour to reach the scene.Intensive care paramedic Paul Wellings was at Claremont in Hobarts northern suburbs when he got the call to attend.Mr Wellings said when he arrived 30 minutes later Ashleys parents were performing CPR on their daughter. He told the court another paramedic from Victoria was also at the scene. The court heard Ashley suffered head, lung and internal injuries and was declared dead soon after the ambulance crew arrived.A passenger in the utility believes the same thing would have happened if he was driving.Paul Banks-Smith told the court, Chaplin slowed to 60 or 70 kilometres an hour near the bus.The prosecution says that was less than what Mr Banks-Smith initially told police, suggesting he does not want to give damning evidence against his friend. But Mr Banks-Smith said Ashley ran out from behind the bus and the same thing would have happened if he was driving. The bus driver told the court he had activated flashing lights warning of a 40 kilometre per hour speed limit and twice put his arm out the window to motion to the ute to slow down. The court has also heard there were no signs indicating school children may be crossing. The hearing has been adjourned to next month
