A short video clip from the calving pasture at dusk. The bawling calf was being reunited with its mother after being lost for the day. Just in the nick of time as dark was imminent and the calf was very hungry. My daughter Julia and I were horseback and had been searching the open prairie for the calf for a couple of hours. Not all mother cows are as attentive as they should be. Needless to say we rode home feeling lucky and relieved to have found the calf and successfully reunited it with its mother. As you can hear in the background, the prairie has come to life, with the long awaited departure of winter and the much anticipated arrival of spring. The boreal chorus frogs, wood frogs, willets, geese, coots and ducks are all very active. ~ Dylan Prairie evening sounds.
