A veil of lies cast upon 9/11 On September 11, 2001, America watched in horror as the unthinkable happened. The worst series of terrorist attacks in United States’ history occurred that day. Over the course of nine hours, four major terrorist attacks took place. The World Trade Center Buildings numbered One, Two, and Seven were high-rise steel buildings that, reportedly, collapsed due to intense fires that weakened structural integrity. The Pentagon is a United States military bunker, responsible for many militant functions—including Homeland Security—that, allegedly, had a Boeing 757 flown into it’s outer wall. Over three thousand people lost their lives that day. When a murder takes place, people expect an in-depth investigation from some level of government; it is the duty of all governments to protect their peoples. While the US government did investigate these terrorist attacks—through the 9/11 Commission and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s report—there are many key points of the government’s findings that simply do not add up with the observable evidence. The government’s official account of the events on September 11, 2001 is incomplete and does not accurately describe the reality of what happened that tragic day. 9/11 marks the first time in history a steel building collapsed due to structural fire—let alone three of them. At 8:45 and 9:00 AM, two commercial jet airliners crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center, respectively. The resulting explosions, mixed with large amounts of jet fuel, created fires that quickly spread to office materials. These fires—the government’s account for how the buildings collapsed—burned for only a few hours; the South Tower collapsed after only one hour of fires, while the North Tower fell after burning for just two hours. Much less known is the 47-story World Trade Center Building Seven. At 5:20 PM, WTC Seven collapsed at near free-fall speeds in just under seven seconds. World Trade Center Building Seven’s official cause of collapse is that “The heat from the uncontrolled fires caused steel floor beams and girders to thermally expand, leading to a chain of events that caused a key structural column to fail. The failure of this structural column then initiated a fire-induced progressive collapse of the entire building” (NIST.) Firstly, when buildings are meant to carry static loads, they are built with a five to one ratio; a bridge that must carry a load of ten tons will be constructed to hold fifty tons. Secondly, jet fuel, at its absolute hottest, burns at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. Assuming the perfect conditions were met to have jet fuel burn that hot—although they weren’t—this temperature is just barely above the first critical temperature of steel at 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, steel has 60% of the strength of steel at normal temperatures. It is at this temperature that steel exits from the normal elastic deformation mode into a plastic deformation mode. One doctor of organic chemistry says that “Another way to classify deformation is by level or degree: elastic (in other words, if the load is removed, deformation is relieved) or plastic (which is permanent deformation)” (Totten). Assuming the fires burned at 1,200 degrees for the mere two hours before collapse, and on only three floors, and that the fires caused plastic deformation to the structure of the WTC buildings, this doesn’t allow for a near free-fall speed collapse of the buildings. One author writes, “We can see that reducing the steel structure to 60% its rated strength should NOT have weakened it to catastrophic collapse, because at 60% it would still support three times the rated load” (McMichael). In 1991, the One Meridian Plaza, a 38-floor skyscraper in Philadelphia, caught fire and burned for over 18 hours; it did not collapse. A mechanical engineer states, “The tallest skyscraper in Caracas, Venezuela experienced a severe fire on October 17, 2004. The blaze began before midnight on the 34th floor, spread to more than 26 floors, and burned for more than 17 hours” (Hoffman); the building did not collapse. In over one hundred years, there has never been a skyscraper that has collapsed from fires. The American people are told that, in one day, three high-rise steel structures collapsed due to fires; these events are highly unlikely. Many eyewitness accounts and observable pieces of evidence are never addressed or do not coincide with the government’s official investigation. Lou Cacchioli, among other fireman, attests to having heard several explosions in the North Tower with statements like “When I began to try and direct down, another huge explosion like the first one hits. This one hits about two minutes later, although it’s hard to tell, but I’m thinking, ‘Oh. My God, these bastards put bombs in here like they did in 1993!” (qtd. in 911-Prison Planet) and “I was taking firefighters up in the elevator to the 24th floor to get in position to evacuate workers. On the last trip up a bomb went off. We think there was bombs set in the building” (qtd. in People Magazine). The official story from the 9/11 Commission contains no mention of explosions in Manhattan other than the two from the initial impacts of the planes hitting the towers. If a seasoned firefighting veteran of 20 years says that he has heard explosions, and that he thinks there are bombs in the building, chances are, he is probably not mistaken. The official story accounting for what happened to the Pentagon was that, at 9:37 AM, American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the West side of the Pentagon. Over eighty different security cameras were rolling in the surrounding area of the Pentagon at the time of impact. Of these videos, only a handful eluded confiscation by the FBI. The footage that is available—although poor in quality—shows no jetliner hitting the pentagon, only a fireball rising from the building. Without verifiable evidence, the government’s claim that a jetliner struck the pentagon is just that, a claim without verifiable evidence. There are very strong indications that thermite—a very energetic high-heat pyrotechnic—was the key source of collapse in WTC One, Two, and Seven; evidence that does not coincide with the government’s official story. For as long as three months, molten metal sat red-hot in the sublevels of the WTC. In regards to the cleanup workers, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani of NYC said, “They were standing on top of a cauldron. They were standing on top of fires 2,000 degrees that raged for a hundred days” (qtd. in New York Magazine). NASA’s thermal imaging of ground zero from September to December, 2001 shows a similar story; the images show temperatures that ranged over one thousand degrees for more than three months. Jet fuel, in the conditions that it burned that day, cannot turn structural steel red-hot, let alone in to a liquid pool of molten metal. Thermite is a compound aimed to melt metals, and it is quite proficient at doing so with its active temperatures of over 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit. One author defines thermite as, “...a chemical compound that consists of a reactive metal and a metal oxide, usually both in a powdered state, mixed together. The type of metals used can vary, though the most common combination consists of aluminum as the reactive metal and iron oxide” (Wiesen). In 2007, a physicist found peculiar red and gray chips in samples of the dust from the destruction of the World Trade Center Buildings. Dr. Steven Jones, formerly of Brigham Young University, finds: That thermitic reactions from the red/gray chips have indeed occurred in the DSC (rising temperature method of ignition) is confirmed by the combined observation of 1) highly energetic reactions occurring at approximately 430 °C, 2) iron-rich sphere formation so that the product must have been sufficiently hot to be molten (over 1400 °C for iron and iron oxide), 3) spheres, spheroids and nonspheroidal residues in which the iron content exceeds the oxygen content. Significant elemental iron is now present as expected from the thermitic reduction-oxidation reaction of aluminum and iron oxide. The evidence for active, highly energetic thermitic material in the WTC dust is compelling. Some so called debunkers, in opposition to thermitic theory of demolition, state that, “Thermite in general makes an ugly hole with molten metal drips/blobs. It doesnt make clean cuts. Its a powder that undergoes a violent chemical reaction as seen in the video below” (S. Scott). It appears that these writers have not done much research, as there is a United States patent—patent number 7,555,986—that is described as “The present invention provides for cutting operations using linear thermite charges; the charges cut one dimensional or two dimensional geometric shapes; the invention is useful for structure entry or demolition” (US Patent Office). The video these debunkers have referenced shows the reaction of the basic powder form of thermite, and they basically use the video to say that there are no employments of thermite, other than to cut through engine blocks of old vehicles. Due to the government’s incomplete and inaccurate account of what happened on 9/11, the American people have lost the reality of that tragic day. The government would have society believe that fires, brought about by the impact of jets, brought down three structurally sound steel buildings; however scientific evidence shows that this is not, nor could not be the case. There is evidence that steel buildings can burn for days without falling, and certainly not at free-fall speeds, and that thermite was present. If the government can lie to the masses about such a heart-wrenching event, it stands to reason that they have no qualms with keeping the people of the United States shamelessly in the dark. After reading this paper, one is most likely left with this question: what else are the American people unaware of?
