A very inspiring little story from my day: I had the pleasure - TopicsExpress

A very inspiring little story from my day: I had the pleasure of coaching a lady named Ash this morning. I hadnt coached her for a while because she been told she had cancer about 4 months ago. I wanted to withhold the cliches of how inspiring it was that she was so positive about it all and how she just wanted to live each day with optimism and hope. No no. What came through from the session was far simpler and more profound than that. We spoke about how she had to take off time from work throughout the summer so she could recover from the inevitable loss in energy and wellbeing (chemotherapy). She went on to say You know its funny Will, Ive been with my fiancee for almost 10 years, but this summer was the first time that Ive ever spent that length of quality time with him. Hes a teacher, so we just got to hang out all day, for literally weeks Later on, all I could think was how amazingly grateful my client had been for that opportunity. Albeit in the worse possible way, she had been incredibly grateful for the chance to spend time with her man. It affirmed a truth in our lives - that when it boils down to it, our appreciation of what we have is the most vital ingredient in a happy life. Like any skill, gratitude must be practiced to be mastered. Unless we practice gratitude like we would practice a speech, we can lose our touch quickly. Be grateful for what you have and make it a daily habit. Be it health, be it love, be it a job, be it a great friend, be it the chance to read this post, be it the gift of this day Piglet noticed that although he had a very small heart, it could hold a rather large amount of gratitude A.A Milne Will (dog walker, surfer, thankful for his client for her amazing energy this morning)
