A very interesting initiative Neighbourhood Midwives. A JUNO reader tells us "this is an amazing new intitiative that could in theory change the face of maternity care in this country - though it is a paying service at this point, this wonderful group of midwives are attempting to prove to the government that the way it used to work (ie having a midwife you know coming to your house, one to one care etc) WORKS. If they can prove, for example, a rise in normal birth outcomes from what they provide, the NHS will then draft them in and pay for it."
