A wonderful historical fiction, covering the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and resulting persecution of Huguenots, the slave trade in French colonies, and settlement in the American colonies as a result of persecution. Nuanced and enjoyable reading. Recommended for ages 9 and up; some episodes, while not at all graphic, will disturb sensitive readers, simply due to the nature of content covered.
