A word from our CEO. Welcome to the first edition of our monthly newsletter, Activ Info, which is designed to keep you up to date on important happenings, new products, overviews, upgrades, interesting applications, and hints and tips that can be implemented to make your fleet more efficient and cost effective. If you have any queries on any of the items featured here, please do not hesitate to call us on (011) 450-3361 or e-mail [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you soon. What’s new? Automate your reports Did you know that the Activ AVL system now lets you automate the reports you require? This function allows you to define the reports you want and then request exactly when you want to receive them (i.e. every six hours, every day, every week etc..) This function does not limit your ability to request reports on demand, but will certainly save you a lot of time as you do not need to request the same report every day. It will also save you a lot of time. Reports are automatically delivered to your e-mail address. Embedded speed limits We have just incorporated embedded speed limits into our AVL mapping structure. This means that every road on our maps will now indicate the official speed limit. This means that you are no longer limited to measuring speed violations against a maximum speed, but speed violations will be shown against the official speed limit for the road the vehicle is speeding on. You can also set the system to automatically log real-time alerts when a vehicle exceeds the official speed limit. Please note that use of this feature will incur an additional cost of R 5.50 per vehicle per month. Please call us if you would like this feature enabled. Hints & Tips Monitor your in-vehicle system Remember that our software includes an automatic monitoring function that continually checks on the health of your fleet management system. Here’s an example: On the AVL Status page, you will see that there is a column indicating ‘Last Update’ and this will indicate when last the unit responded (this normally indicates ‘Just Now’ or ‘1 minute ago’ etc.) Our system enables you to set a time (typically 15 minutes) at which the status line will turn RED indicating that the unit has not responded for 15 minutes. If you are concerned, please contact us so that we can investigate.
