A word of warning for those considering SafeMonk for automatic - TopicsExpress

A word of warning for those considering SafeMonk for automatic encryption in Dropbox. I installed SafeMonk two weeks ago and have been fighting for control of my three computers (home, work, laptop) on which SafeMonk was installed ever since. SafeMonk issues: First, SafeMonk changed the case (to all lowercase) for thousands of my files. (And there is no fix. Yay!) Second, SafeMonk is a huge CPU hog. (Slow computers. Yay!) Third, SafeMonk repeatedly fails to load an launch, rendering files unreadable. (Unreadable files. Yay!) In short, SafeMonk is NOT ready for prime time. I installed SafeMonk after Dropboxs highly publicized data breach last month. I decided that two-factor authentication (which I use on every service that offers it) was not enough and encryption was the answer. Well, just like PGP, SafeMonk doesnt just work, and until there is an encryption program that just works, Im out. The only perfect security for your data is no access at all, so I guess Ill have to settle for good enough. Encryption: its the technology of the future - and always will be. dilbert/strips/comic/2007-11-16/
