AAP attracting youth in Tamil Nadu The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is capturing the imagination of youth of Tamil Nadu too, even as it is intensifying the membership enrolment drive. After the impressive performance of the AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections, the party has, in the last one month, enrolled about 31,000 members, of whom two-thirds are aged below 30, says M. Lenin, co-convener of the State unit. Asked whether any particular group of professionals is joining the party, Mr. Lenin said, “Those who have joined us are from all walks of life.” He pointed out that till about a month, the total membership was about 6,000. While the party sought nomination for all the Lok Sabha constituencies,it had not yet finalised the number of constituencies in which it will contest. A five-member committee is in the process of identifying constituencies,says Mr. Lenin. As for any tie-up with others, the co-convener says the issue will be addressed by a two-member panel in charge of poll strategy. The State unit said it was now functioning from 68, Taylors Road, Kilpauk, Chennai.
