ABDULRAZAQ O. HAMZAT: THE UNRIGHTEOUS MR RIGHT Of all the people that do comment or have to post one or two things on social media, especially facebook, even those who are not likely going to agree with conventional situation of things when we are discussing state matters, I find this guy called AbdulRazaq Hamzat a little more childish, hypocritical and mediocre. He usually starts with a boast of sagacity but do end in mediocrity. I do not intend to write a long essay on him, for, I once did such a lengthy one sometimes back (I wish to bring that back from my archive and repost it if he need be) to expose his ceaseless attack on the system that refused him participation in the golden carnival of the best education celebration anyone can dream of. In most puerile and trifling manner, he wants to prove he knows everything far more than anybody else when he is just beneath the feet, he claims sainthood at all times on all issues like he is the golden boy when he is not even close to being a bronze in morality, he sees nothing good in anything anybody does except his because he do have a blurred vision, he criticises almost everything like he is the prophet of knowledge when his sleeves are decorated with dullness, he paints a picture of fantasy like all is well with when he is just suffering and smiling (apologies to Fela), he places himself where he doesnt belong and call himself phantom Mr. Right, an illusional Human Right Ambassador! Who dash monkey banana? So irritating, almost everyday, he will drop senseless post, non-topical, unintelligent, in pieces and will want people to ponder on inconsequential argument. Childish and empty showmanship! When an individual is particularly against a system, condemning everything that particular system is producing, such is only exposing his frustrations, being unable to catch up with the best, he is only visiting his anger on the system. AbdulRazaq Hamzat has never hidden his deep-seated hatred for University of Ilorin and anyone that has affiliation with that University. Unfortunately, nobody can cure this deranged perception and paranoia, of course we are not responsible for his woes. No man is an Island and nobody can know it all. When an individual sees his opinion and knowledge as superior to others, you can best describe such mind as delusional misapprehension and begin to call for medical attention for the incoming patient. Such mental psyche needs a check. I do not hold brief for University of Ilorin (Im not even an Alumnus), neither do I even know the Lecturer in question, but Hamzats recent attempt to blackmail and smear the name of the University is devoid of logic, intelligence, commonsense and respect for rule of law. It takes an ignorant mind to criticise a house owner for constructing a bungalow instead of storey building when he hasnt asked or does not know the topography of the land on which the house was built, among other factors. A rightly intelligent and discerning mind do not come in the open and make such a senseless accusation first without fact at hands, and second without providing further supporting evidence to buttress his claims. The attempt to denigrate the university in such bad light, as in employing low grade graduate as a lecturer is to say the least mischievous. This is a weighty allegation that I will expect the accuser to prove beyond reasonable doubt be ready to dance naked in the dark room of self advertisement. Unfortunately, Hamzat has never had the privilege of passing through a conventional university so may never know how things work there. He sees behind a tainted class assuming imaginary knowledge but he knows nothing. This is most gravious nemesis which will continue to haunt him for a long time to come. Before he condemns the university for employing a low grade or blaming the lecturer for obtaining a 3rd class grade, the question we should ask him is, why was he (Hamzat) even unable to secure admission into the university? Why did he fail JAMB may times and opt for free for all-cash available NOUN? Would it not have been better for him to obtain even a pass grade from a conventional University like Unilorin than getting a first class from a satelite campus? KWASU is even more magnanimous to consider candidates like him who are from the state and who cant obtain the minimum requirement for a highly competitive University like Unilorin. Thanks to catchment area policy. One would have even expected him to wait until he graduates from the correspondence learning and obtain a first class grade before he will come here and condemn anyone and everyone. What does he even know? Being a class captain of his mushroom class isnt a ticket to prove brilliance? Empty barrel makes the most noise. Let me reiterate, no one is supporting that merit be sacrificed for mediocrity, however, a study on socio-economical factors responsible for grades students obtain will reveal a lot; like not all those who obtained low grade in Universities or even polytechnics are academically dull after all. Sometimes, factors like poverty, family background, parental problems, psychological imbalance, peer group influence, external threat, and even exuberance may take away a students attention from the class. Have you even gone to class empty stomach, how many textbooks were your parents able to buy, were you even able to pay for your practicals, among many questions? If you have not been there, you cant know the way it works. There are tenths of 3rd and even pass grade Nigerians that have become something today; AbdulFatahi Ahmed, present Kwara State governor is a 3rd product, Late Gani Fawehinmi had a Pass, Tony Elumelu got a 3rd class, among others. The grade they obtained might not have rightly defined their qualities and abilities. What is this Hamza talking about? Im not going to educate him on the processes and procedures used in determining employment, but lets inform him that, much less attention is now focused on grading. Nobody will sacrifice merit or encourage such especially where there is a law that expressly directs so, but, as an employer of labour, one in the field of talent hunt, I have personally found out that emphasis on grading during employment doesnt necessarily translate to employees performance. I have interviewed and seen a first class graduate of a University (I dont have to mention the universitys name) who can hardly construct simple sentence in english language. I have also seen another, whose sense is only on pontification and garrulousness (just like what Hamza does often) without any sense of logic in argument and problem solving. Hamzat needs to get knowledge, he knows nothing. Problem solving capacity, trainability, among other factors, of a potential employee is the first key. In this part of the World (Asia) where I have been living for years, you dont even need to obtain a degree before you are certified an engineer in practical terms. Most of the engineers exported to Nigeria by most of the construction companies who are the bosses of Nigerian engineers in these companies are mere technical school graduates, yet, Nigerian engineering graduates work under them. It is no more a secret that Hamzat is still nursing his anger against the University (Unilorin) that didnt offer him admission but it is not too late to prove his claimed best. I once told him in my previous piece that if he is really sure he is good and he is the best and Mr. Right as he always claims, let him go and obtain a UTME form, choose Unilorin as first choice, obtain even the minimum requirement and get himself admission to study even Yoruba Language, then would he know the difference between a real University and spoon feeding correspondence learning centre. No matter how hard he portrays his ego, he is not a graduate of a University. We know there are UNIVERSITIES and there are universities. He should just respect those who went through such tough process and bury his vague head in shame for being unable to. Let me conclude by challenging Abdulrazaq Hamzat to provide further evidence of his allegations, proving to us that there is a breach of a known guideline by the university in this process, he should avail us of all the requirements to be satisfied before employment is done, he should tell us the lecturer in question actually has a 3rd class and should post a photocopy of his certificate, he should prove to us the lecturer hasnt obtained further qualification, he should also tell us that the University does not enjoy certain fiat to exercise in peculiar situation like this and should further prove to us this is not one of such situations, he should also tell us if the person in question enjoys a waiver or not, then he should assert that the employment was wrongly done? When and if all these questions are answered convincingly, I will respect his facts and publicly acknowledge same. But, if he fails to do that beyond reasonable doubt, he should be ready to bear the consequence self-popularity-parachuting antics. If I were the lecturer he denigrated and the University he maligned, by now, I would have contacted my lawyers to brace up for a long fight in the court of law with an ignoramus who wants to score cheap social popularity. Atleast, to teach him a lesson. There is nothing right in this Mr. Right, it is just a puerile display of misapprehension by a smug, arrogant, complacent, self conceited and condescending small boy! Shio!
