AFRICA FACT 106: No chains around our feet but we are not free......... #BobMarley Do you know that between 1961 and 1973, SIX (6) African independence leaders were assassinated by their former colonial rulers or their agents. 1 - Opposition leader of #Cameroon, Felix Moumie, poisoned in 1960. 2 - Patrice Lumumba, prime minister of newly independent #Congo shot by firing squad, body hacked and dipped in acid in 1961 3 - Sylvanus Olympio, leader of #Togo was killed in 1963. 4 - Mehdi Ben Barka, leader of the #Moroccan opposition movement was kidnapped in France in 1965 and his body never found. 5 - Eduardo Mondlane, leader of #Mozambiques Frelimo, fighting for independence from the Portuguese, died from a parcel bomb in 1969. 6 - Kwame Nkrumah of #Ghana, was ousted in a western-backed coup in 1966. Later died of skin Cancer in 1972. 7 - Amilcar Cabral, leader of the west African liberation movement against Portugal of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde, (Partido Africano da Independência da Guiné e Cabo Verde or PAIGC) in #Guinea Bissau and #Cape Verde, was assassinated in 1973. More has occurred, more still to come....... What is the future of Africa? When shall Africa be free? Would the blood of our fallen heroes be in vain? When will imperialism die? When will neo-colonialism stop? Would we soon be reduced to savages? Should we back down in the struggle? Should we keep on fighting? What shall we tell our children? WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
