World_sindhi_congress@yahoo WSC Requests the International Community to Investigate the Extrajudicial Killing and Enforced Disappearances of Sindhi Political Activists World Sindhi Congress (WSC) held a Remembrance Conference in Bradford on 11 May 2014 to pay tribute to Sindhi heroes who made ultimate sacrifice of their lives for freedom of their motherland Sindh and Sindhi people. The conference was attended by scores of Sindhi, Baloch and other human rights activists from across the UK. The guests included Pervez Fateh, Profesor Nazir Tabassum and Lala Mohammad Younis of South Asian Peoples Forum UK. The first session was moderated by Gul Sanai who provided a heart-warming overview of the sacrifices of Sindhi martyrs. Professor Nazir Tabassum said that the Pakistan’s establishment is perpetrating crimes against all nations in Pakistan. He said that we supported the struggle of Bengali people and we support the struggle of Sindhi people for their emancipation. Lala Younis recited a famous poem of Habib Jalib warning Punjab that if you don’t show care and restraint Sindh and Balochistan will also go as Bangladesh got independence. Mrs Hafeezan Wadhio talked about recent Sindhi martyrs and said that their sacrifices give Sindhi nation an inspiration to get their rights. Dr Hidayat Bhutto said that from Raja Dahir to Maqssod Qureshi Sindhi heroes is a continuity and they have given their lives for the freedom of their motherland. He said the current cruelties, atrocities and killings of Sindhi political activists cannot stop Sindhi people’s struggle for their freedom. Dr Lakhu Luhana said that Sindhi heroes gave ultimate sacrifice with their blood to keep the hopes and struggle for freedom alight whenever Sindh is under darkness of slavery. He said the ultimate tribute for these heroes will be to make their dreams a reality and to achieve this the only way is an organisation that work and leads the nation with wisdom, strategy, honesty, commitment and sacrifice. The second session was an interactive session moderated Dr Rubina Greenwood and Gul Sanai. In the session four questions related to issues and challenges to Sindhi nation and work of WSC were discussed. The session resulted in very lively and productive discussion. Resulting from discussion in this session it was agreed that WSC and Sindhi Sangat UK will establish a Sindhi Martyrs Fund in order to support families of Sindhi martyrs. At the end, resolutions were read by Ms. Suraiya Makhdoom and passed by the audience. The resolution included request to the international community to take notice of extrajudicial killing and enforced abductions of Sindhi political activists, demand from Pakistani state to stop human rights violations of Sindhi people, release all Sindhi and Baloch people forcibly kidnapped, stop supporting religious extremism and violence against religious minorities and condemnation of the killing of human rights defender lawyer Rashid Rehman.
