AND the MILO Winner IS: The Philippines airlines and hotels that benefited from the millions of pesos lost by the race participants who will perhaps have to return home (such as those who flew here from Kenya just for the race), or who cant afford another round trip plane ticket from here in the Philippines, or who will spend thousands of pesos again to return to Manila whenever they decide to hold the event. Such a disappointment to be putting my bib number on my singlet last night, and 7 hours before start time to receive a text from Milo saying that the race is postponed until some future date. Its really a shame because the weather was perfect this morning for a long distance race.... cool and a little breezy... that might have produced some really fast times (maybe a new record). Its not so bad for me as my return flight home is Dec 12 so that I could take care of some business here in Manila, but I feel sorry for the many others who borrowed money to come here and then to go home with nothing to show for their efforts. This is not to diminish the prayers that we all send out to the masses who are in the path of destruction being wrought by typhoon Ruby as it passes through the Visayas, but such a shame that there was no race when there would have been no danger to anyone participating in a Manila race this morning.
