ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION CORNWALL ONTARIO: On April 25, 2014, the Ontario SPCA received a call concerning a cat that was at a local animal hospital in poor condition. An Ontario SPCA Officer arrived at the hospital and spoke to owner of the cat who explained she had visitors at her house a few days earlier when she heard the cat screech. She said she ran to the basement and found the cat hiding under the table. The woman then informed the Ontario SPCA Officer that she questioned her visitor Brian Wilson who was alone in the basement with the cat. Brian Wilson stated that nothing happened. In the time since the incident, the cat had been losing weight, biting when picked up, experiencing pain and was wobbly in the hind end. The cat was examined by a veterinarian and was found to have a fractured pelvis, irregular pupils and head trauma. The Ontario SPCA Officer interviewed Brian Wilson who stated he deliberately dropped his 10 pound nap sac on the cat while it was sleeping because he was upset with its owner. The cat was taken for several follow-up visits with the veterinarian. It was euthanized due to the extent of its injuries. Mr. Wilson was sentenced and received a life-time prohibition from living with, owning or caring for any animals. ontariospca.ca/media-centre/media-releases/893.html
