ANNOUNCEMENT February Special Event Are you using social media for business and personal use? Then this workshop style evening is for you, and anyone you know, who might benefit from knowing the following: - ● What is social media? ● What are the privacy issues relating to its use? ● What impact does it have on: - o Employment? o Reputation? o Time Management? o Recruitment? What are the legal aspects of social media’s use, and how can we be sure we are not breaking any laws when we use it? Are we infringing people’s privacy and human rights? If people gain a list of new contacts while working for an employer and then leave the company, who do the contacts belong to? Social media is now such a big part of our everyday lives that we need to stop and think about what we are doing, and what impact we are having when posting something online. We need to have policies and procedures in place to cover everyone’s rights, protect our own rights, and a companies reputation and name. There have now been a number of court cases that have laid down points of law regarding this, and these are now impacting the way certain aspects of Social Media use will be viewed within the current legal framework. Our Guest speaker and workshop host for this extraordinary evening event will be Julie Sullivan, an (Associate) at Young and Partners Business Lawyers. Julie will be going through what our concepts of Social Media are, the experience she has already gained regarding the legal aspects of what we are doing, and also covering how we should be doing it. I find this a very exciting topic, as I have heard a lot about how you can benefit from Social Media in recent years, but never have I heard anyone warn that there are now points of law dealing with it, and explaining the need for sound policies regarding its use. It is going to be a great event and I would encourage you to come along and hear what Julie has to say. InVite your friends and business associates, as well as any other contacts that you feel would benefit from this information. As a one off, we are only charging our usual entry fee on the evening to cover the admin and refreshments, but in the future this will be a paid for workshop. So book early and ensure you don’t miss this unique opportunity.
