ANNUAL KUMQUAT FESTIVAL® SELECTED AS SOUTHEAST U.S. “TOP 20 EVENT” The Annual Kumquat Festival® has once again been awarded a “Top 20 Event” status for the Southeast United States by the Southeast Tourism Society, which promotes travel to and within 12 southeastern states. (southeasttourism) The 17th Annual Kumquat Festival® will be held on January 25, 2014. Over 40,000 attendees, 430 vendors and 40 sponsorship partners participate in this unique, fun, old Florida cultural event celebrating “the little gold gem of the citrus industry” – the Kumquat. The Festival was also recently awarded Pasco County’s “Event of the Year” from the Pasco County Tourist Development Council. Hundreds of volunteers assist the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce in marketing, servicing and hosting the annual festival, which generates an estimated $1 million in economic impact for the area and has become well known as a Tampa Bay “must see” event. The Annual Kumquat Festival® features live entertainment, great shopping in local stores, hundreds of arts and crafts vendors, a wide range of delicious food and beverages, festival car show, a “Health and Wellness” section and of course, thousands of kumquat pies and related kumquat products. The Festival is held in beautiful, authentic downtown Dade City at Highways 52 and 301, a 30 minute drive north of Tampa. A month of activities lead up to the Festival, including a car show, local youth pageant, recipe contest, merchant window decorating contest, a Relay for Life 5k fun run, and kumquat grove and packing house tours at Kumquat Growers Inc., the Festival’s agricultural partners. The Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Events publication receives extensive exposure in print media, web, and television and radio in the U.S. and Canada. Over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio & television stations, AAA’s and other receive the listings. The Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce is a member-based organization committed to the promotion of economic growth and quality of life in our area.
